Plastic Bags & Dolphins

Yesterday I read about a Dolphin washed up dead on the English coast with 24 plastic bags found in its stomach. The Dolphin thought it was eating jellyfish! Also yesterday was a very windy day up here in Teesside and I could see so many plastic bags stuck in tree’s as I drove along the A66 to Middlesbrough. I then realised that these Dolphins are not just being killed by careless fishermen or ferry passengers but by everyone who takes home plastic bags from local supermakets. In this country we are no further than 70 miles from the sea, therefore these bags could come from any home on bin collection day to the sea within 2-3 days. Then on the oceans currents for eternity or until it kills another Dolphin!

Please tie a know in your collected bags. Keep any good quality bags in you car or jackets for recycling and remember that Dolphin at your local supermarket!
